Redesigned NSPS Web Site Keeps the Workforce Up to Date
Since the inception of NSPS, the NSPS Web Site has served as the primary source of news, information, training tools and resources for employees working under the system. To continue providing timely and accurate information to the DoD workforce, the Web Site has been reorganized to address two key audiences: employees working in NSPS and those transitioning out of the system.
- For employees working in NSPS, NSPS Connect remains your one-stop source for all information, news, documents and learning tools related to completing work and fulfilling job responsibilities in NSPS. Organized by audience and subject matter, a single document can be quickly accessed from a vast array of NSPS materials.
- For employees transitioning out of NSPS, the NSPS Transition area of the Web Site provides transition-related news, timelines, resources and learning programs. This section will be continuously updated as organizations confirm transition plans, so it is important to visit frequently. The newly added
GS 101 training course provides a basic overview of the General Schedule (GS) for those transitioning back to GS.
As transition planning continues, the Department will maintain its commitment to transparency and keeping employees informed. The redesigned site with streamlined content provides convenient access to the latest information.
Feedback Is Critical
Employee feedback has always been critical to NSPS communications. A Feedback tool is accessible from the top of the NSPS home page. You are encouraged to use this tool to suggest future content for the Web Site. The PEO and Components will review your comments and make necessary updates.
Director of NSPS Transition Office Appointed
The Deputy Secretary of Defense appointed John H. James, Jr. as Director of the NSPS Transition Office (NSPSTO). The NSPSTO is the successor office to the Program Executive Office, NSPS (PEO-NSPS).
Mr. James will oversee the transition of 226,000 DoD civilians from NSPS to non-NSPS personnel systems. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010 (NDAA 2010) repealed NSPS and mandated the transition of NSPS employees, with no loss in current pay, to appropriate non-NSPS personnel systems.
Mr. James is an experienced career senior executive well-suited to lead the NSPSTO. Among his many accomplishments in 28 years of Federal service, he is distinguished for his leadership of personnel, expertise in change management, and knowledge of the governing civilian personnel systems, including alternative personnel systems.
Most recently, he served as Executive Director, Logistics, Maintenance and Industrial Operations at the Naval Sea Systems Command, where he was responsible for the Navy’s ship maintenance, environment and logistics policy, processes, and execution oversight. He has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since 2000.
